THE FUTURE WE WANT - WHAT OLDER PERSONS ARE SAYING
Longevity and Development: Opportunities and challenges
The International Day for Older Persons is here again and theme is out. Older persons of Entebbe with the support of HENU - Health Nest Uganda have already started preparatory meetings. In their l
ast meeting that took place on 29th May 2013 at Aero Beach, the older persons discussed a number of issues.
They decided to start a Lunch Club which will be launched on 1st October 2013 when they are celebrating their day. They are starting a lunch club to manage loneliness within their homes, to get new information and skills, to make new friends and to remain active within their communities. They will match with the youth led by a band. They said they want to involve young people in order to share with them life experiences [So it will be an intergenerational event]
The meeting was opened by the Chairperson HENU Older Peoples forum Retired Bishop Samuel Balagadde Ssekkadde. The venue was offered free of charge by Elder C. Kodet.
Older Persons invited a nutrition specialist in the same meeting to share with them information regarding the way of eating and how it affects their health.

Beautiful Namara! I would love to hear more. I read that older persons said that managing loneliness was important, and that they want to involve young people to share with them life experiences. Do you have a summary of what people said was important to them?
