Building Trust Through Dialogue: A Group SALT Session in Bamun Gheri Village

In 14 No Bamun Gheri Village, we recently initiated a Group SALT session with a group of men from the community. Before commencing the session, we engaged in a discussion about the nature of SALT and the rationale behind it. This helped create a comfortable environment where participants could freely express themselves. As the session unfolded, it became a powerful platform for sharing thoughts,

emotions, and lived experiences. Participants openly spoke about their personal joys, struggles, and the realities of their daily lives, allowing everyone present to gain a deeper understanding of the community.As the session unfolded, it became a powerful platform for sharing thoughts, emotions, and lived experiences. For the very first time, I am openly sharing my innermost thoughts with you all. Despite having many well-wishers, I had never previously confided my true feelings to anyone—something that became possible today.

This entire experience feels entirely new to me, and after this SALT session, I feel that the bond between us has grown significantly stronger.”His words clearly highlighted the importance of creating a safe and supportive space for dialogue.During the session, several participants spoke about the hardships associated with migration. In search of livelihood, many travel to other states, where they often face uncertainty and risk.They expressed:“When we migrate to other states for work and income, we are frequently confronted with various risks. We are not always safe; indeed, we often face dangerous situations. As migrant workers, we constantly suffer from anxiety. Moreover, our absence places our families back home at increased risk and creates difficulties in ensuring their proper care and supervision.”These insights revealed the emotional, social, and physical challenges faced by migrant workers and their families.

The discussion gradually moved towards solutions and aspirations. Participants strongly emphasized the importance of education and local employment opportunities, expressing a collective desire to reduce dependency on migration.They shared a vision where individuals can:• Live and work within their own village• Lead a healthy and dignified life• Ensure the safety and well-being of their familiesThe importance of unity and solidarity was also deeply felt. Participants acknowledged that only through collective strength and cooperation can the village achieve sustainable development and growth.
By the end of the session, participants expressed a profound sense of relief and emotional lightness. Being able to share thoughts that had long remained unspoken created a strong sense of connection among the group.This experience demonstrated that SALT is not just a methodology, but a powerful vehicle for social transformation and community development.

The SALT session in Bamun Gheri Village marked an important step towards building trust, understanding, and unity within the community. Participants now feel a shared responsibility to sustain and uphold this approach.SALT has proven to be an indispensable tool—one that empowers individuals, strengthens relationships, and paves the way for a more connected and resilient community.

১৪ নং বামুন ঘেরি গ্রামে, আমরা সম্প্রতি সম্প্রদায়ের একদল পুরুষের সাথে একটি গ্রুপ সল্ট (SALT) সেশন শুরু করেছি। সেশনটি শুরু করার আগে, আমরা সল্ট-এর প্রকৃতি এবং এর পেছনের যুক্তি নিয়ে আলোচনা করি। এটি একটি স্বস্তিদায়ক পরিবেশ তৈরি করতে সাহায্য করেছিল, যেখানে অংশগ্রহণকারীরা স্বাধীনভাবে নিজেদের প্রকাশ করতে পারতেন।
সেশনটি এগোনোর সাথে সাথে, এটি চিন্তা, অনুভূতি এবং জীবনের অভিজ্ঞতা ভাগ করে নেওয়ার একটি শক্তিশালী মঞ্চে পরিণত হয়। অংশগ্রহণকারীরা তাদের ব্যক্তিগত আনন্দ, সংগ্রাম এবং দৈনন্দিন জীবনের বাস্তবতা নিয়ে খোলামেলাভাবে কথা বলেন, যা উপস্থিত সকলকে সম্প্রদায়টি সম্পর্কে আরও গভীর ধারণা পেতে সাহায্য করে।
একজন অংশগ্রহণকারী, বাপি সর্দার, একটি বিশেষভাবে প্রভাবশালী অনুভূতি প্রকাশ করেন:

“আমি কাজের সূত্রে অনেক জায়গায় ভ্রমণ করেছি, কিন্তু এমন কিছুর সম্মুখীন আগে কখনো হইনি। এই প্রথমবার আমি আপনাদের সকলের সাথে আমার ভেতরের ভাবনাগুলো খোলাখুলিভাবে ভাগ করে নিচ্ছি। অনেক শুভাকাঙ্ক্ষী থাকা সত্ত্বেও, আমি এর আগে কখনো কারো কাছে আমার সত্যিকারের অনুভূতি প্রকাশ করিনি—যা আজ সম্ভব হলো। এই পুরো অভিজ্ঞতাটি আমার কাছে সম্পূর্ণ নতুন মনে হচ্ছে, এবং এই সল্ট সেশনের পর আমি অনুভব করছি যে আমাদের মধ্যকার বন্ধন উল্লেখযোগ্যভাবে আরও শক্তিশালী হয়েছে।”
তাঁর কথায় সংলাপের জন্য একটি নিরাপদ ও সহায়ক পরিবেশ তৈরির গুরুত্ব স্পষ্টভাবে ফুটে উঠেছে।
অধিবেশন চলাকালে, বেশ কয়েকজন অংশগ্রহণকারী অভিবাসনের সাথে জড়িত নানা প্রতিকূলতার কথা বলেন। জীবিকার সন্ধানে অনেকেই অন্য রাজ্যে পাড়ি জমান, যেখানে তাঁরা প্রায়শই অনিশ্চয়তা ও ঝুঁকির সম্মুখীন হন। তাঁরা বলেন:
“যখন আমরা কাজ ও আয়ের জন্য অন্য রাজ্যে যাই, তখন আমরা প্রায়শই বিভিন্ন ঝুঁকির সম্মুখীন হই। আমরা সবসময় নিরাপদ থাকি না; বস্তুত, আমরা প্রায়শই বিপজ্জনক পরিস্থিতির মুখোমুখি হই। অভিবাসী শ্রমিক হিসেবে আমরা প্রতিনিয়ত উদ্বেগে ভুগি। উপরন্তু, আমাদের অনুপস্থিতি দেশে থাকা আমাদের পরিবারকে আরও বেশি ঝুঁকির মধ্যে ফেলে এবং তাদের যথাযথ যত্ন ও তত্ত্বাবধান নিশ্চিত করতে অসুবিধা তৈরি করে।”
এই অন্তর্দৃষ্টিগুলো অভিবাসী শ্রমিক ও তাদের পরিবারের সম্মুখীন হওয়া মানসিক, সামাজিক এবং শারীরিক প্রতিবন্ধকতাগুলো প্রকাশ করে।
আলোচনাটি ধীরে ধীরে সমাধান এবং আকাঙ্ক্ষার দিকে এগিয়ে যায়। অংশগ্রহণকারীরা শিক্ষা এবং স্থানীয় কর্মসংস্থানের সুযোগের গুরুত্বের ওপর জোরালোভাবে জোর দেন এবং অভিবাসনের উপর নির্ভরশীলতা কমানোর জন্য একটি সম্মিলিত আকাঙ্ক্ষা প্রকাশ করেন।
তাঁরা এমন একটি স্বপ্ন তুলে ধরেন যেখানে ব্যক্তিরা:
• নিজেদের গ্রামের মধ্যেই বসবাস ও কাজ করতে পারবে
• একটি সুস্থ ও মর্যাদাপূর্ণ জীবনযাপন করতে পারবে
• তাদের পরিবারের নিরাপত্তা ও মঙ্গল নিশ্চিত করতে পারবে
ঐক্য ও সংহতির গুরুত্বও গভীরভাবে অনুভূত হয়েছিল। অংশগ্রহণকারীরা স্বীকার করেছেন যে, শুধুমাত্র সম্মিলিত শক্তি ও সহযোগিতার মাধ্যমেই গ্রামটি টেকসই উন্নয়ন ও প্রবৃদ্ধি অর্জন করতে পারে।

অধিবেশনের শেষে, অংশগ্রহণকারীরা গভীর স্বস্তি এবং মানসিক হালকাভাব প্রকাশ করেন। দীর্ঘদিন ধরে অব্যক্ত থাকা ভাবনাগুলো ভাগ করে নিতে পারার ফলে দলটির মধ্যে একটি দৃঢ় সংযোগ তৈরি হয়।

এই অভিজ্ঞতা প্রমাণ করেছে যে, সল্ট (SALT) শুধু একটি পদ্ধতিই নয়, বরং সামাজিক রূপান্তর এবং গোষ্ঠী উন্নয়নের একটি শক্তিশালী মাধ্যম।

বামুন ঘেরি গ্রামে অনুষ্ঠিত সল্ট (SALT) অধিবেশনটি সম্প্রদায়ের মধ্যে আস্থা, বোঝাপড়া এবং ঐক্য গড়ে তোলার দিকে একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পদক্ষেপ হিসেবে চিহ্নিত হয়েছে। অংশগ্রহণকারীরা এখন এই পদ্ধতিকে টিকিয়ে রাখতে এবং সমুন্নত রাখতে একটি সম্মিলিত দায়িত্ব অনুভব করছেন।

সল্ট (SALT) একটি অপরিহার্য হাতিয়ার হিসেবে প্রমাণিত হয়েছে—যা ব্যক্তিকে ক্ষমতায়ন করে, সম্পর্ককে শক্তিশালী করে এবং আরও সংযুক্ত ও স্থিতিস্থাপক একটি সম্প্রদায়ের পথ প্রশস্ত করে।
