পেচাকোলা কমিউনিটির জুলেখা খাতুন টিয়া গ্রুপের একজন সক্রিয় সদস্য। তিনি বর্তমানে ডিগ্রি দ্বিতীয় বর্ষের একজন ছাত্রী। জুলেখার পরিবারে তিন ভাই ও এক বোন রয়েছেন। তার তিন ভাই বিবাহিত এবং আলাদা আলাদা ভাবে নিজ নিজ সংসার পরিচালনা করছেন। জুলেখার বাবা মৃত্যুবরণ করেছেন। বর্তমানে তিনি তার মায়ের সঙ্গে আলাদা ভাবে বসবাস করছেন।
ভাইয়েরা মাসে কিছু অর্থ দিয়ে মা-মেয়ের সংসার পরিচালনায় সহায়তা করলেও, সংসার খরচ ও পড়াশোনার ব্যয় একসঙ্গে সামলানো জুলেখার জন্য বেশ কষ্টসাধ্য হয়ে উঠেছিল। বিশেষ করে লেখাপড়ার খরচ জোগাতে তাকে নানা ধরনের সমস্যার সম্মুখীন হতে হতো।
এই প্রেক্ষাপটে টিয়া গ্রুপে “ড্রিম বিল্ডিং” সেশন পরিচালিত হলে, গ্রুপের একজন সদস্য মারুফা জানান যে তিনি টেইলারিং বা দর্জির কাজ জানেন এবং আগ্রহী সদস্যদের তিনি এই কাজ শেখাতে প্রস্তুত। তার এই উদ্যোগে অনুপ্রাণিত হয়ে টিয়া গ্রুপের সদস্যরা দর্জির কাজ শেখা শুরু করেন। এর মাধ্যমেই জুলেখা দর্জির কাজ শেখার সুযোগ পান।
জুলেখা মনে মনে ভাবেন, যদি তিনি নিজেই দর্জির কাজ শিখে নিতে পারেন, তাহলে নিজের ও পরিবারের পোশাক নিজে তৈরি করতে পারবেন। এতে অন্যের ওপর নির্ভর করতে হবে না এবং সেলাইয়ের খরচও সাশ্রয় হবে। সেই সাশ্রয় করা অর্থ তিনি তার পড়াশোনার খরচে ব্যবহার করতে পারবেন।
বর্তমানে জুলেখা নিজের, তার মায়ের এবং ভাবিদের পোশাক নিজেই তৈরি করছেন। এর ফলে তার মাসে প্রায় ৫০০ টাকা সাশ্রয় হচ্ছে। এই সাফল্য তাকে আরও আত্মবিশ্বাসী করে তুলেছে।
জুলেখা এখন ভাবছেন, দর্জির কাজে আরও দক্ষতা অর্জন করে সেলাই ও ফিনিশিংয়ে পারদর্শী হলে তিনি কমিউনিটির অন্যান্য মানুষের জন্যও পোশাক তৈরি করতে পারবেন। এতে ভবিষ্যতে তিনি আর্থিকভাবে স্বাবলম্বী হবেন এবং নিজের জীবনকে আরও দৃঢ়ভাবে এগিয়ে নিতে পারবেন।

Inspired by her initiative, the members of Tia Group started learning tailoring. Through this, Julekha got the opportunity to learn tailoring.
Julekha thinks to herself, if she can learn tailoring, she will be able to make clothes for herself and her family. This will save her from having to rely on others and will also save on sewing costs. She can use the money she saves to pay for her studies.
Currently, Julekha makes clothes for herself, her mother and her sisters-in-law. As a result, she is saving about 500 taka per month. This success has made her more confident.
Julekha now thinks that if she gains more skills in tailoring and becomes proficient in sewing and finishing, she will be able to make clothes for other people in the community as well. This will make her financially independent in the future and will be able to move her life forward more strongly.
