Its Monday and I have just come from a community visit. I had visited a community called Siakago. Its three months since I started walking alongside Siakago community.A team of 20 people has been meeting to discuss about the concern of orphans and vulnerable children. The team has started a table banking initiative whereby each member contributes 50KSHS only a weekly basis. That means every week the team brings together 1000Kshs.Every week some one takes a loan of the 1000Kshs and returns it with an extra 100Kshs.That way the group has now raised 8000Kshs and the journey continues.Today, however,I walked into our meeting place and there was something in the faces of some members that told me all was not fine.'We have lost one of our members',Caudacia told me. Philiph has been on ARVs and been of great strength in the team but now he is gone! I remember how for the last three months he has been waiting for the children to play games in the KAY clubs and then while resting he would join me to ask revealing questions"Which team won"?," What have you learnt from the games that you can apply in your life as a young person"......Thanks for your support!R.I.P.

The underlying principle is that emotional, social and cultural needs of children are as important as their material needs. The opportunities for following up discussions arise in many community conversations. Sick parents or guardians when sharing their concerns often reflect about their childrens lack of morale because of the condition they are in or their withdrawal due to the pressure of caring for their sick parents.Other connections are stimulated at family level through home visits. Discussions around concerns in relation to orphans and vulnerable, strengths for response and vision/hope for the future opens invitations for support and a place to be meeting with the kids and youth is agreed.Meeting days are agreed and through consistent accompaniment KAY club leaders from the community own the process. In the KAY clubs children are mentored to become agents of change in their homes and in the wider community.

Hallo dear friends.I am working with The Salvation Army as a Psychosocial support for Orphans and vulnerable children coordinator in five communities. Kids and Youth clubs is the avenue we use to share and learn on concerns related to OVCs.Hope we will continue to share and learn. In each of the five communities are 2 KAY clubs each with a mimimum of 30 children. We are accompanying 300 Orphans and vulnerable children. Thanks

Dear friends, colleagues and supporters of young people in the global response to HIV and AIDS! (apologies for any cross postings)

The Melbourne Youth Force (MYF) is incredibly excited to announce the launch of its website www.aids2014community.org/youth

The StepWise team, ICASOICAD, and Melbourne Youth Force (MYF) together with YEAH, are excited to announce the launch of a new area of StepWise Guide designed specifically for young people... This new section of StepWise: The Community Guide to AIDS 2014 is designed and managed by Melbourne Youth Force, and will function as the primary web space for the coalition of young people as they work to shape the strategic direction of youth activities and online advocacy in the lead up to and during AIDS 2014.

StepWise is an online hub for information related to the 20th International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2014), to be held 20-25 July, 2014 in Melbourne, Australia. StepWise is tailored for communities and individuals around the world who are interested in learning about and/or attending AIDS 2014.

“This partnership reflects what StepWise is all about: making AIDS 2014 more accessible to the people most impacted by HIV around the world,” described Mary Ann Torres, ICASO Executive Director. “Youth Force has been an invaluable asset to the global fight against AIDS, and has made an incredible impact on International AIDS Conferences since 2002 in Barcelona.”

Melbourne Youth Force (MYF) is a global network of young people and those who support youth leadership in the global response to HIV. MYF is committed to facilitating and shaping the next generation’s response to HIV in the world. “The 2014 Melbourne Youth Force will ensure that young people are highly visible and their voices heard, not only as delegates but as organizers, decision-makers and global advocates in the lead up to AIDS 2014, “says Alischa Ross MYF Co-Convener and CEO of YEAH, the lead Australian partner of MYF. “We are proud of the collaboration that has been achieved by integrating the MYF online presence into the StepWise website”, she continued.

At StepWise, visitors will find information about the AIDS 2014 conference, including the Global Village, reminders about upcoming deadlines, updates on immigration and housing, links to abstract mentoring opportunities, and learning and networking opportunities before the conference and in Melbourne. Community members are invited to share information and opportunities via StepWise, through the StepWise Twitter:@stepwiseguide, and the StepWise Guide Facebook page. Be sure to tag posts #aids2014 #stepwise ! Also, connect with the MYF Facebook page and through the MYF Twitter: @youthaids2014 and tag posts #youthaids2014 .
