the RED HAT campaign is on raising t...he
awareness of people in Laguna on HIV/AIDS. They conduct HIV/AIDS
information sessions in school and train a pool of Peer Educators/
Facilitators among young people/ church leaders to spread the message of
God’ Plan in the context of HIV/AIDS. The meeting was to discuss
areas of collaboration between PinoyC and RED HAT on the campaign to
address HIV/AIDS in Laguna. The meeting also presented an opportunity
to link RED HAT with the peer educators of PAMAC-Q.
What are the concerns? Community concerns are: - Inadequate knowledge of students on HIV/ AIDS. - In-school campaigns are being conducted but are limited in scope
because of difficulty of acquiring permission from school division
heads. - To break free from the impression that the church is a stumbling block in the response on HIV/AIDS. Main concerns are: - Documentation of their activities and learning tools. - Issue of availability of members to implement activities because the core group are only volunteers.
What are the strengths of Red HAT? -
Individual competencies in resource mobilization, training and
development, proposal making, facilitation, communication strategies,
organizing. - Committed core group. - Network among churches and other faith-based groups in Laguna.
Pinoy Competence and Red HAT are looking forward to your advice and inputs.
