Hi Friends,

We are happy to inform that NEDHIV Nagaland India is facilitating Community Action Day with Long Distance Truck Drivers. NEDHIV runs a truckers project along NH-39 (National Highway). The project is funded by State AIDS Control Society with TCIF as the technical support team.

We have done SALT visits and participatory action research with truckers and allied population. This has enhanced uptake of services by the truckers. It has led to mobilisation of transporters as well. We incorporated ACP tools in our project without additional funding. ACP has definitely supplemented our project.

Is the Kenyan team also observing CAD? We would like to reflect and learn together.

Best regards,

Fr Joe, Bijoya, Jacinta, and Prem

Dear Petronilla and Kenyan team,

Greetings from Delhi!

I have dispatched a package to you from India. It contains things used by truckers to decorate the trucks, documents, films on HIV and truckers. My sincere thanks to Shekhar and Priya from TCIF, Deepa from CSI and Ash Pachauri from CHP for their contribution. I have also added two music CDS which truck drivers play when they drive long distance. Hope the Kenyan team will enjoy the music.

Warmly,

Rituu

Message from Petronilla

Greetings! The Mlolongo Wellness centre, has a functional health facility which attends to truckers and the community around. This clinic is supported by the the Ministry of Health and has seconded Nurses and Clinical officers to the facility. During our salt visits, we invite these medics to share on our discussions for the day, some of which need sufficeint information from the medical background. The medics find it prudent as a way of information sharing towards the fight against HIV/AIDS, and are readily available. for the discussions.

Cheers!

Dear

Greetings from cool, cloudy Delhi!

IKEA and CHP conducted health and HIV awareness and sensitization workshops with truck drivers in Dadri, U.P on 1 July, 2010. The workshop engaged truck drivers in dialogue-based communication about health and HIV risks and vulnerabilities and identified practical techniques to minimize them. Please read more about this exciting work on a blog posted by Ash available at
http://aidscompetence.ning.com/profiles/blogs/red-ribbon-rolls-on-t...

You can see photographs of the SALT visit with Truckers in Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar, Delhi on 3rd July 2010 at http://aidscompetence.ning.com/photo/album/show?id=2028109%3AAlbum%...

Best,
