My dear Elischia, thanks for your inputs. Highly appreciated. We are planning to make the toolkit more simple and will incorporate your suggestions. Have a nice weekend.

I have been permitted by the members of my house to announce that we will be having 'a taste of SALT'  workshop in my own home for CAD!

We hope to do the "We are human", our hopes and concerns, and SALT, on CAD for me, my wife, son, and daughter.

Like Charity, CLCP begins at home!

Good day all,

My feedback was going to be on the same ideas the committee has already decided, so no need to add my input there. In terms of CAD being used broadly, perhaps a guide on how to use CAD in case specific ways would be helpful. In this way, people will understand the general idea and topics that it can be used with through successful case studies within the toolkit.

Dear All,

I have uploaded documents on Community Action day which you can read and share with others. There is a English, French and Russian Version. This has been prepared by the Community Action day working group. Special thanks to Jeanne d'Arc and Laurence for translation in French and Kamilla for translation in Russian.

Warmly,

Rituu

Dear Gracia,

I am happy to hear about your Community Action day plan. Where are you currently based in Indonesia?

Reproductive Health Education was the central theme of two communities for Community Action Day last year. Jeanne D'Arcfrom Cameroon facilitated it with a group of school children in Cameroon and Wiwin from Indonesia did it with  a group of school teachers during a training on reproductive health for inclusion in school curriculum.

Warmly,

Rituu

Hi Rituu,,,

I plan to have an indepth discussion with students group to build their awareness and demand to access Reproductive Health Education, because even the government has prepared the education in school but there was lack of demand of the students to access it. I hope someday all students can be aware and feel that education istheir needs not others. ^^

What are participants planning for Community Action day 2011?

Laurence Gilliot, Thailand

I think that the Community Action Day will be a great opportunity for us to re-discover our strengths as a community and to celebrate! We don't celebrate enough!!! One dream I have is to discuss about climate change with my community of friends in Chiang Mai. To see the small and big things we can do to take action...

Nicole Cole, Guyana

Rituu I plan to meet with Parents to encourage "Positive Parenting" which is needed to raise 'well-adjusted' children who will contribute 'positively' to the Society. Many children are 'neglected' and 'feel unloved' hence many of them are committing suicide. Suicide is a major social problem in Guyana so I will focus on Parents who can make a difference in the lives of their children. Peace, Love and Light.

Dear Ukeme,

I am happy to hear from you. Thanks for the update. I eagerly look forward to hearing how youth take to the idea of Community action Day, if it excites them. Youth in Philippines are very enthusiastic and plan to observe it on many issues- peace, HIV, climate change etc.

Wiwin shared that an organisation working on family planning issues is interested in CAD and Autry and Korey are exploring it with their communities in Guyana. Gaetane will share with her friends in Belgium. So interest is building up.

Warm regards,

Rituu

Dear All,
Sorry have been very quite. I was in the community for HIV counseling and Testing, for good 4weeks.
I will be leading some group of young people into the community next month for a programme called Frontier process. So i will be introducing the CAD to the 13 youth from different communities in Nigeria.
Stimulating local response, identifying community challenges and sharing our experience.

So i will share the learnt on the youth group. I will also need some input from the group.

Warm Regards.

Update on CAD 2011

Dear All,

Greetings!

Wanted to give you an update on what has been happening so far on CAD 2011. The working group met last month. The group suggested that we would like to scale up CAD this year, go beyond HIV and as a strategy encourage youth in different communities to take the lead. However, the other community members would of course be involved.

Next steps

  • The working group would approach different organisations to celebrate CAD.
  • CAD to be observed for any topic which is a priority for the community
  • Simplify the toolkit so that people find it easier to apply.
  • Create a global pool of facilitators for supporting the communities for CAD
  • Set up a facebook group on CAD
Request for your inputs and suggestions. To help us Marjolein offered to design the logo. I request for volunteers who could promote the day, share or offer to facilitate it with communities. Any kind of support would be highly appreciated.

Warmly,
Rituu
