First news of the Community Action Day 2011 from Philippines. Congratulations Pinoy competence!

Joy Ferriols-Pavico Hello CAD community! Our youth in Cotabato (IDS Youth) completed their Community Action Day a bit early - on 8 September and they cleaned the drainage of their village. We will post a video clip when it is ready. Our youth group in metro Manila Pamacq will conduct their Community Action DAy a bit later (22 Sept, therabouts) and their theme is on Adolescent Reproductive Health plus a fund raising initiative to help a mentor who is seriously ill. The youth respect and would like to give back to their mentor the goodness he has transferred to them. Pinoy Competence is proud of the young people we work with.

Dear CAD Team,

Really sorry for my absence last few weeks. For CAD, I'm please to inform you that from Bandung Indonesia we plan to do

1. Revisiting students's dream of being good and salty students - best achiecvers- in relation to school's tasks and adolescent reproductive health.

2. Reuniting of free and newly recruited local facilitators at bandung.  We'll plan to develop dream and assessing our action plan dealing with some facilitation and implementation of SALT at our personal life and working.

CAD 2011 plans

Joy Ferriols-Pavico, Philippines
Plans for CAD in one of the youth groups under PinoyCompetence is firming up. In a village where Moslems and Christians live in Mindanao, the IDS youth will lead the village youth in clearing up their drainage system so there will be less or no flooding when the rains come again. The village leaders are preparing to give packs of rice to the youth in appreciation for their hard work. There will be snacks and community games also. This will be held on sept 8, we will post video clips, hopefully in time for CAD Sept 12. Passing you some SALT

Jeanne D Arc Kengne in Congo
Merci

What are participants planning for Community Action day 2011- update

Bheri, Karnataka, India

This time I am planning to have CAD with small group of people trying to set up cooperative society and NGO team members working with Child rights

Gaston Schmitz, Thailand

We have to start with our own communities and practice what we preach. Our work community, but also our family community. Next week we'll have visitors from Singapore (the potential national facilitation team). We'll visit my own rock-climbing community for a SALT visit and dream building. I am excited, especially as someone close of one of the climbers recently died of AIDS. Let's see what this brings.

Mohamed Rafique, India

I have been permitted by the members of my house to announce that we will be having 'a taste of SALT' workshop in my own home for CAD! We hope to do the "We are human", our hopes and concerns, and SALT, on CAD for me, my wife, son, and daughter.

Like Charity, CLCP begins at home!

Joma Neihsial and Khoi Dinesh, Manipur, India

FXB Imphal manipur, India is quite encouraged about the 1st CAD organised in 2010, they are inviting us (India Competence) team here again for 2011 to be organise with their success Livelihood programmes, leading to sustain their projects.

Gracia Augusta Temongmere, Indonesia

Hi Rituu,,,

I plan to have an indepth discussion with students group to build their awareness and demand to access Reproductive Health Education, because even the government has prepared the education in school but there was lack of demand of the students to access it. I hope someday all students can be aware and feel that education istheir needs not others.

Nicole Cole, Guyana

Rituu I plan to meet with Parents to encourage "Positive Parenting" which is needed to raise 'well-adjusted' children who will contribute 'positively' to the Society. Many children are 'neglected' and 'feel unloved' hence many of them are committing suicide. Suicide is a major social problem in Guyana so I will focus on Parents who can make a difference in the lives of their children. Peace, Love and Light.

Laurence Gilliot, Thailand

I think that the Community Action Day will be a great opportunity for us to re-discover our strengths as a community and to celebrate! We don't celebrate enough!!! One dream I have is to discuss about climate change with my community of friends in Chiang Mai. To see the small and big things we can do to take action...
