Dear all,
I want to share with you all that we are going to celebrate CAD here in Barcelona a bit late. We have planned for a meeting with members of the broader HIV community on december 10th.
We have the challenge of the variety of events that are organized around dec. 1st so we decided to wait a bit until the waters of the WAD calm down a bit.
The Barcelona team has taken the CAD as an opportunity to move things forward and it was very stimulating for us. Thinking in how we could be part of this action day made us jump into an invitation to a bunch of people whom we have been working with for years. They are all so busy that it is difficult to get them together in a single date, but soon after we sent the invitation we have started having feedback showing their interest in being part of it.
We plan a very simple session where all of us can share our common vision on how it is for us doing communitary work... it will be on december, 10th and we will share with you pictures, comments and everything.
We are looking forward to that meeting because it will be the expression of a lot of discussion, reflection and patience... and now, a lot of hope.
Love
MariJo

Thanks Joma for the encouragement. We can do it, and we can start small. Even in our own family, school or neigborhood. That's at least what I will be encouraging here in my little village in France - will let you know how it goes! I am admiring all the plans the friends in this group have. Sana: good luck with the Counselors! Marlou

The other day in Nagaland Dimapur during our SALT visit SANA was talking about NOKIA connecting people. It was such an innovative thinking that connection is the things we look for in Community Life competence process.

Personally what I plan was to re-connect people who was once in the competence process, might be have been using the process knowingly or un-knowingly but have been into it. During the program in Nagaland Jahnabi was sharing about the activities which she have done with one community, she does not translate that not as CLCP but it happen to be CLCP after she shared the story. In this was many people have been into it.

CAD is the day when we could make the/our people show what they can do for the community/others which would be the key entry point for us to Facilitate CLCP or planting the CLCP seed from/on that day.

Everyone have the capacity to respond issues of our own by our own so, the day has come to take draw/out that. Come on lets do it.....

Dear All,

Welcome to the Community Action Day group!

Nicole from Guyana is planning to facilitate the day with a women's group on STIs and SRH with focus on female condoms. She asked me a question on the challenges of female condom uptake in India. Nicole, the uptake is a huge challenge as lack of information, and high cost of the product are obstacles to use of female condoms. The core factor continues to be lack of negotiating power among women.

Discussion on the issue by the Guyana group can throw light on key issues and can be a source of learning for India. Look forward to your report, Nicole. Good luck!

Warm regards,

Rituu
