SUMMARY:Webinar: Support Mechanisms for Rural Sanitation Programmes
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a free webinar from Dr. Jeremy Kohli
tz and Professor Juliet Willett, authors of the forthcoming edition of
Frontiers of CLTS: Support Mechanisms for Rural Sanitation Programm
 es.\r\nDate: Thursday 27th June 2019\r\nTime: 11:00 - 12:30 (BST)\r\n
Register here\r\nThe webinar will focus on:\r\n\r\nDifferent individua
l support mechanisms including financial, in-kind and non-material tha
t go beyond conventional CLTS support processes.\r\nHow these mechanis
ms can be designed to address the challenges faced by disadvantaged in
dividuals and groups.\r\nThe necessary monitoring systems and knowledg
 e sharing needs\r\nRecommendations for practice moving forward\r\n\r\n
It will begin with a presentation by authors Dr. Jeremy Kohlitz and Pr
ofessor Juliet Willetts followed by a Q&A.\r\nA renewed focus on equit
y is being driven by the Human Rights to Water and Sanitation framewor
k and Sustainable Development Goal 6, which emphasise the importance o
f adequate and equitable sanitation for all. Community-Led Total Sanit
ation (CLTS) is based on the idea that sustained, collective improveme
nts in sanitation work best when communities identify and drive their
own sanitation solutions. However, there is evidence that CLTS process
es to achieve community-wide outcomes are not always systematic, adequ
ate, sustained, or sufficient to meet the needs of disadvantaged group
 s. To ensure equitable outcomes, there is increasing attention on addi
tional support mechanisms that complement conventional processes of de
mand creation, behaviour change, community empowerment and community a
 ction.\n\nFor more information visit https://aidscompetence.ning.com/e
