 gages those closest to the issues under evaluation as analytical partn
 ers. A form of participatory action research, the aim of CBPR is to in
 crease knowledge of the issues for and with program partners. After te
 n years of programming to promote the political mainstreaming of exclu
 ded Roma populations, NDI wanted to implement a retrospective evaluati
 on that was not only accountable to its donors, but also to its local 
 Roma partners.\r\n \r\nUsing a CBPR model, NDI engaged Roma partners 
 in each step of the research cycle, first by establishing a Roma Advis
 ory Committee to scope and oversee the evaluation and then training Ro
 ma Research Assistants to implement community-based research in 10 Rom
 a communities in Eastern Slovakia.\r\nLinda Stern will share NDI’s e
 xperience, identifying the benefits and challenges of CBPR with margin
 alized communities, as well as the strengths and limitations of the CB
 PR model itself. Following the presentation, you are encouraged to ask
