A public health crisis, such as the one we are currently witnessing, has brought to fore the tragic realities affecting vulnerable communities across the globe.   we will discuss the role and importance of community participation in responding to the COVID-19 crisis. The webinar will broadly cover the following topics:

• Community engagement strategies that we could apply during and after the epidemic, specially to empower and protect vulnerable populations. Lessons from HIV and other pandemics
• Building meaningful relationships between communities and health care providers
• Engaging communities in research during/post-COVID-19 - what are some unique challenges we see emerging?

Prashanth NS is a medical doctor and public health researcher 

Meena Seshu is founder and secretary general of Sampada Grameen Mahila Sanstha (SANGRAM), an HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and support organization working with socially marginalized populations in Maharashtra State, India. 

Yvette Alta Raphael is a consummate leader in the fight against HIV. As someone who has been living with the virus for over 19 years, she has experienced first-hand what HIV stigma, insufficient prevention education, and reduced access to healthcare can do. 

Vivek Anand  is the Chief Executive Officer of The Humsafar Trust (HST)
