Together with some friends we experimented:

How can you do dreambuilding using less words and more body talk?

It was great fun to do this experiment and it lead to some deep sharings and understanding. Letting your body do the talking is so powerful!

Here you see our group dream of a community where it is nice to live,

where we know and meet the neighbors (2 people on the right = enjoying tea on the street together like it is their shared living room),

where we take care of the more vulnerable (2 people in the middle = kids playing with animals in the middle of the street), of our environment (green all around),

where we greet each other and make plans together (3 people on the left),

and welcome visitors in a way that demands respect.

What is your dream for your neighborhood?

And how would you express that dream with your body?

Thanks Birgitta for your feedback and how using body posture can help us express feelings which may not come through conversation. I remember a group in Indonesia or Philippines which compiled their group dream through a song.

Joke, will love to try this out.

I was part of this experiment, and it was a great experience.  So nice to talk less, feel more and connect better. Joke and two co-facilitators lead us through a series of steps that allowed us to

- imagine our personal dream, tune into the feeling of the image. Express the feeling/image with your body posture.

- share your personal dream with others. Not by talking but by showing with your body posture.

- communicate with metaphors, symbols.

By using images, symbols, movement, posture, the whole experience was more intuitive. What a relief not to have back and forth argueing/discussions.  We hardly talked and it finding common ground, the common denominator or shared dream was much easier.
I hope to try this out with a community myself!  If you are interested too, ask Joke for the detailed itinerary.

Hi Marie, I answered your question by editing the text to the pictures!

Dear Rituu, we tried to talk and write less and just feel and imagine the dream. What is different is that the dream becomes more alive and real already from the start. And that sometimes you don't know how to express something on paper, but your body knows how to show it. Another funny thing is that people who were in other small groups making the small group dream, tried to understand each others small group dreams without knowing the content. And the things they see can add a new layer of understanding to your own dream. It is enriching to try a different form like this!

Hi Joke, what are the two ladies in the center of the picture doing?
