Chers amis

Antoine, il me reste à te dire merci.
Jean-Louis

Antoine,

Your premature departure is a time to celebrate your contribution to the development of the Constellation, as you live through the thousands of communities that comprise it.

Thanks to you, we have begun to understand the impact of SALT on our personal lives. You were one of the first to share how looking at strengths of the DRC's communities changed your perspective on your own family. Your experience goes around the world because it struck us.

In Matadi, after a Self Assessment meeting on AIDS, we felt that an important step in the process was missing: that of the dream. And the next day in Boma, we introduced it without delay. The process became so much more natural! Today we cannot imagine accompanying a community that has not explored its deepest aspirations.

It is still thanks to you that we were able to develop the relationship between RDCC and the global support team, within a living organism in which everyone plays their part without the need for hierarchy.

Other friends could describe better than me your contribution to local responses to child mortality in Tanganyika or against Ebola in Guinea.

Antoine, I have to tell you thank you. Thank you for your good mischievous mood, for your kindness at all times and your wonderful talent of endless storytelling. Thank you for so many happy moments living our friendship rich of our differences.

Because of your humility, it is impossible for me to remember your title of Professor. It's just Big Brother Antoine. Accessible with you beautiful simplicity, it is in Rwanda during my first formal introduction to SALT that I met you. It has been easy for me to capture the value of the approach thanks to exchanges with members from around the world and more specifically through your testimonies on the local strength. I remember listening to another colleague from Togo who shared how he spent a pleasant mission somewhere in Africa thanks to your contagious joie de vivre. Nothing in the world would make me miss the chance to meet you, and, when such opportunity presented itself, when you came to Burundi to assess and plan the contributions of the GLIA Project Constellation, I took it. You stay with us through the approach, to the development and deployment of which you have contributed.

Rest in Peace dear Big Brother.

Cher Antoine,

Adieu.

Loli

Dear Antoine,

I will always remember our first meeting in Guinea. It was my first visit to Africa, and I was lucky of sharing with you a good part of the road from Conakry to Kissidougou. Of having you as a facilitator during the SALT visits to communities affected by Malaria. You helped me understand the SALT and CLCP between story and story.

All the way, you had not stopped talking; telling us stories of your personal life, of communities, and each story was unique and special. There were sad stories, but you had the ability to find the right word, the small sentence who would make us laugh even in suffering.

I will always have in my mind a story that you told us about your daughters and your wife. I use it often in some conflict situations to give voice.

You left us very early dearly "Professor", but you will always stay with us and in us for all your actions. Thank you for your smile, your kindness and humility, thank you for being you own.

Farewell.

Loli

Dear Friends, Dear Colleagues,

It is with deep sorrow and a huge shock that I have just learned today of the death of our dear colleague and friend Antoine Saka Saka. Antoine would have been evacuated on Monday for health reasons, and his state worsened overnight.

We will remember him as a gentle man, bright and devoted to the cause of children. He will be greatly missed...

Pray that God accompanies and comforts his family, all his friends and grieving colleagues and that his soul rests in peace.

Translation:

Antoine, you were probably one of the most optimistic people I've met. Even with so much work and aspirations to reduce the suffering of families and children, you always remained calm, smiling and wise.

I remember the good time in Northern Thailand. Always so open minded and always ready to learn from others.

Or I remember that we spent an evening during one of my first visits in Kin; you helped Laurence and I to feel comfortable and showed the good things of your beautiful country.

I remember your generosity to offer your car and driver for a weekend trip to Bas-Congo. I remember your humility in relation to the huge impact that you had on so many many lives.

A big thank you Antoine for being you. We will not forget you. You were and remain a real Professor of Life!
