Team of five- a husband-wife duo, two brothers, engineer, dietician, doctor, footballer, MBA, from two different states, stationed in front of the computer screen and conversation on skype! I knew the couple but others I  met for the first time on skype and I dared to ask a very philosophical question 'what makes us human'.

The answers were - we are human because we have body and soul, we have six senses, emotions and feelings, we are intelligent, we know the difference between right and wrong. We have moral and spiritual values.

We recognised that we all as human beings have both positive as well as negative qualities. If we do away with our external differences we can connect with other. But as we reflected deeply two insights came up.This is a good question to ask ourselves because it helps one to think and to understand one self better. In today's life we often tend to forget that we are human. This question, thus, can serve as a reminder when we interact with other people. This is also the philosophy and way of thinking in the Constellation- we keep our expert and titles aside and focus on the human aspect.

Personally, after the end of this short  I felt very connected with this team. There was a quote which was very moving which again illuminated the personal/human factor, "Working in older people's care home was initially a job but now I am emotionally connected and want to work from my heart."

(I had an opportunity to facilitate this skype session with Champions care home team http://www.championcarehomes.com/   Feroza, Johnson, Jebaraj, Sebastian and Rafique.)

Ayesha Nusrat I remember papa asking me this question when we were in Delhi together, and I remember mysef thinking this is a profound question. Reading this, I feel it is not not only profound but increasingly significant in today's turbulent times.. Props to you, Rituu for these enlightening conversations! smile emoticon

Ayesha Nusrat I think I would've said something along the lines of humans having conscience, intellect to live a life of one's choice and to have faith.

Ayesha Nusrat Rituu, there's a “What Makes Us Human?” series that runs on the Jeremy Vine show.. I remember reading an article about the same. If I recollect, it spoke of how humans are different because of their curiosity (to think and be concerned of things beyond their survival) and the ability to laugh.

Ayesha Nusrat on a lighter note,
“A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, co-operate, act alone, solve equations, analyse a new problem, pitch manure, programme a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialisation is for insects.” - Robert Heinlein smile emoticon

No one knew there was going to be a skype meeting for them. They were taken by surprise when I told them to participate.
I learnt to listen to the team, and thus everyone could bring out their most profound thoughts. If everyone is given their space, all can and will contribute.
