Virtual Knowledge cafe

Here are some lessons from a virtual knowledge cafe. What can we learn from these to improve our pooling and sharing of knowledge?I particularly liked the statement "the students soon discover everyone is the expert, including themselves".  Now where have I heard that before? :)See More

Distilling a discussion

Here is a good example of how someone has posed a question of the community (KM4dev) and then taken the time to distill the responses to provide a summary and linked to the original discussion and listed resources offered.  The topic is "How to collect and present Lessons Learnt" but could so easily apply to our discussions.  I suspect they may have learned something from Solution…See More

My dream:
Is that we create a world where the action of communities helps raise the quality of life for all of us
My concern:
We cannot break the relationship of service provider to victim
I'm proud of:
Seeing the AIDS Competence approach spread far beyond the boundaries I have touched
What I think of Community Life Competence:
A way of living my life
What do I want to do to spread Community Life Competence?
I want to apply SALT in my own life (S: Stimulate; Support; A: Appreciate; L: Listen; Learn; Link; T: Transfer; Team), Facilitate AIDS Competence in my community, Share about AIDS Competence with potential partners; friends; colleagues
If you choose other, please specify
Create knowledge assets that can be shared where the knowledge is needed most
The small secretariat of the Constellation also needs help. Do you want to help? I want to:
Knowledge Management, Share AIDS Competence with potential partners

Rapid Results leads to 90% of staff going for testing in Addis

Lou Compernolle sent us this as it reflects our principles.

An enterprise in Addis managed to get 90% of its staff to test for HIV in 120 days by using Rapid Results. The head of the consultancy says:

What’s missing to turn poor places into rich places isn’t more information, money, technology, workshops, programs, evaluation or any of the other things that development organizations normally provide. …

Mind your language!

Here is another great talk from TED talks warning us not to force people to converse in English.  Conversation in any language leads to a sharing of thoughts and the creation of knowledge.

Dear Geoff, Thank you for your comments. Actually, we did review the SALT from last May 2009 and we did some reflection from last meeting with the team. The team will work more closely with HACC in order to mobilize the SALT to other NGO in the regional through Cambodia. Vichet

Hello from Jakarta.
Nice to see your photo. What is this big red bird like thing in your photo?
I like your profile and agree with your concern. Rituu from Delhi has sent a book ' Learning to Fly ' for me. I asked for it. The book is on its way to Jakarta as Lawan will carry it for me. Waiting to learn how to fly.

regards,
Rebeka
