I strongly believe that working for and ensuring blood security in the developing world is equally important the way food security is being pursued through a concerted action at different levels.

About Me:
A medical professional,AIDS control programme manager and a fellow of public health field leadership program facilitated by the CDC,Atlanta.

A graduate of AIIMS,New Delhi with post-graduate qualifications, inter alia, in Human Rights Law from National Law University, Bangalore.

Working as an AIDS control programme manager with the state government for more than 8 years in the Indian state of Gujarat .

Interested in the proactive role of the community at large in assetion of right to health (with a focus on the health management with built in community systems strengthening besides mere health systems strengthening in isolation)and issues pertaining to access to equitable quality healthcare.
My dream:
Establishment of the right to health as a fully promoted, protected and widely asserted human right. Everyone must see their definite role and contribute for his/her health-which is perceived in its totality and not just as equivalent of health-care.

The socio-economic,cultural and environmental determinants of health must form the core of the perspectives and pursuits accordingly. The need to act on Community Systems Strengthening(CSS) and Social Change Communication(SCC) must be realized at all quarters.
My concern:
Mindset of thinking that health issues are just medical issues needing doctors and hospitals only.
I'm proud of:
Meaningful and faciliitatory participation of the infected and affected community in the entire continuum of prevention, care, support and treatment of HIV/AIDS and containment of the second epidemic of stigma and discrimination faced by the PLHIV.
What I think of AIDS Competence:
Playing a major role in genearting a concerted collective response throgh mobillization of one and all on the pertinent issues.

What do I want to do to spread AIDS Competence?
Facilitate AIDS Competence in my community, Launch a facilitation team, Join a facilitation team, Share about AIDS Competence with potential partners; friends; colleagues, I want to apply SALT in my own life (S: Stimulate; Support; A: Appreciate; L: Listen; Learn; Link; T: Transfer; Team), I want to share my experience on my blog in Ning
If you choose other, please specify
Faciltate translation of the documented expertise and deliberations.
Subject to temporal constraints wish to tanslate that into the vernacular as well as translating that into action through facilitation through the myriad stakeholders
The small secretariat of the Constellation also needs help. Do you want to help? I want to:
Writing skills, Share AIDS Competence with potential partners, Knowledge Management

Blood Security---access to safe blood as a right of the patient!

A well-organised Blood Transfusion Service (BTS) must be considered as an essential and integral component of any healthcare delivery system.

India does have a sound national blood policy (development of the same was incidentally largely facilitated by the Gujarat SACS), but the absence of a functional national blood service renders a patient hapless and helpless at the critical moments.

In event of a road traffic accident or any medical/surgical emergency, a patient is, more often than not, e… Continue

Working on the dream to make safe blood accessible to all the needy!

We in Gujarat are working to minimize all possibilities of transmission of HIV
and other infections through transfused blood along with prevention of avoidable
deaths for lack of blood ,say at the time of childbirth.

Repeat voluntary blood donation supplemented with quality standardized blood banking practices
with a reorganized blood services with functional blood storage centres in tribal/rural and difficult to reach
unserved and undeserved areas, may realize the same.

We all are working in… Continue
