Make your voice heard: We seek your vision and wishes for the Shared governance model of the Constellation

Dear friends and members of the Constellation,

In about 2 weeks’ time, from October 14 to October 21 2017, many members of the Constellation from around the world will participate in the Global Learning Festival, a big event, a great moment of sharing and transfering of competences organized by the Constellation every two years in recent years.

Towards the end of the festival, on October 21 2017, a meeting will be organized to reflect on how to create a global and organic “structure” that ensures that all Constellation members around the world and the different circles/organs be connected in a way that makes sense and that is conducive to the most efficient (and joyful ;-) functioning of the whole organization.

Below is a proposal for a governance scheme:

But  we would like to know from you, the members (regardless of status), what you would like to see and to which extent and in which way you would like to be part of it?

To this end, we would like to ask you the following questions:

 - Do you feel related to/a member of the Constellation? Why (not)?

 - How would you like to be connected to the Constellation members and circles?

 - What kind of support would you appreciate from others organs including the GST?

 - What, according to you, would be your ideal role/what is it that you would like to contribute/what type of work resonates most with you/ within the Constellation as an organisation?

We want to hear from you, because you are the life blood of the Constellation, and we want to ensure that your voices are properly taken into consideration.

Just post your comments here below, and we will be sure to include them into our conversations.

I think the structure is good though there are some things that seem like initials.
I am a member of the constellation and feel part of it. The connection should be mutual, support, sharing and learning. There is the need for international or regional conferences to bring members together and training.

Hello Santatra :) !

Please find below the response of Belcompetence as a member organisation:

  1. We feel linked to a movement that promotes local action in the spirit of SALT, so if this is what is meant by the Constellation, then yes we feel connected. What binds us together is this: we subscribe to a common vision and shared values, and we practice SALT. We do not feel particularly connected to the GST as an entity, nor do we wish to be beyond the sharing of news / learning. If we choose to become a member of the Constellation as an individual, it is because we feel that we are "SALT agents" in that we are so convinced of its impact that we want to help spread it - not to help the GST in its operational work. We do not exclude contributing to the GST, but that will not be the bulk of our participation.

  1. The connection through Constellation news and stories is interesting because it is a source of human inspiration. Events such as Learning Festivals (local or global) are also great opportunities for sharing and learning, which make space for networking with the fantastic people who are part of the movement.
It would make sense to have a representation of Belcompetence as a group / organization within the Constellation governance. Not just individuals from Belcompetence present in different circles, but rather be represented as an organization.

  1. Support in terms of "how to do even better what we do" - as SALT / CLCP practitioners. This could take the form, for example, of international events among trainers at the approach - to exchange in depth on practices and how to grow as a trainer to further disseminate SALT/CLCP.
Another form of exchange that makes sense is dialogue between our two-and-a-half-day local training sessions and the online SALT program: we train people locally and then encourage them to take the online training and actually accompany a community, then people who have done so return to the group of learners to share their experiences and learnings of implementation.

  1. There is a difference here between individual members and the member organization. A “connector” (ie. link person) in the local team must nurture the relationship with the GST to keep abreast of what is happening elsewhere, so we can get connected when/where it makes sense to us. But on top of that, there should be room for Belcompetence and other groups to rally to the governance of Constellation as a member organization.
As individual members, there is a real desire to feel part of a support network that allows us to refine ourselves in our practice and learn from field experiences elsewhere.
There may be two categories to be found for individual members (because the needs are not the same): “sympathizing members” (who subscribe to values and vision but do not necessarily practice) and practitioners (who subscribe values and vision AND practice SALT).
As a sympathizing member, I seek to be inspired at the human level and to follow the activities that are happening in the world. As a practitioner, my needs are more precise: I want the network to help me grow as a practitioner, and to help me to respond to my realities on the ground.
As a member-group / organization, we would like to be represented in the circle of "local teams" although the name may not be sufficiently inclusive (ie. what of thematic teams across borders?).

  1. Our support to the Constellation is translated through the viral expansion of SALT. And this is why we need support- we are local response! As much as we understand the actions needed to support the organization (support teams), our active participation in said teams should remain optional. That being said, sharing information and learning is capital, and so yes, Belcompetence is happy to be able to share with the other members of the network what is going on in our country and what we are learning.

To this end, we would like to ask you the following questions:

 - Do you feel related to/a member of the Constellation? Why (not)?

Yes I do, since we share what is common in our daily life

 - How would you like to be connected to the Constellation members and circles?

I still concern how can I share my experience with SALT and CLCP when I don't have community to work with? This made me mostly have no idea what can be shared.

 - What kind of support would you appreciate from others organs including the GST?

how to do knowledge management?

 - What, according to you, would be your ideal role/what is it that you would like to contribute/what type of work resonates most with you/ within the Constellation as an organisation?

I really would like to learn , share and contribute how SALT works at CSR initiative and at profit enterprise.

We want to hear from you, because you are the life blood of the Constellation, and we want to ensure that your voices are properly taken into consideration.
